We’re pleased to present a breakdown of our VFX production for 60th anniversary Dr Who episode: Wild Blue Yonder. This milestone episode focuses on returning David Tennant in the role of The Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna, as they become stranded by the TARDIS on an abandoned spaceship at the very edge of the universe. The narrative demanded a visual experience that captured the isolation and mystery of their surroundings. This ambitious diamond anniversary Dr Who special was set to have more than 250 VFX shots. The VFX sequence has been created in cooperation with Painting Practice, and it features 3D set extensions as well as full CG shots of a mysterious, endlessly reconfiguring spaceship.
This project not only showcases our technical expertise but also our commitment to storytelling through visual artistry, contributing to a landmark episode that celebrates six decades of Doctor Who.
